How do Passport funds flow?

A payment gateway provides an intermediary for a transaction by transferring information between a payment portal (such as a website or mobile phone) and the acquiring bank (your bank). The credit card details are submitted via the gateway, securely sending this data through the relevant financial networks to the merchant processor to check the validity of the card and to authorize the card for a transaction.

A merchant processor allows a merchant (you) to accept payments via a debit or credit card. The merchant processor verifies credit card and customer information before authorizing the transaction. In successful transactions, the merchant processor deposits funds into the designated bank account.

A merchant of record indicates which entity will hold the funds. If Passport acts as the Merchant of Record, we remit funds once a month via check or ACH (Automated Clearing House). If you are the Merchant of Record, the funds will be deposited into your bank account and Passport will send invoices once a month for any associated transaction fees.

If you will be using your own merchant processor and gateway, Passport has supported integrations with the following gateways:

  • Authorize.Net
  • Converge (Elavon)
  • DataCash
  • Desjardins
  • Internet Secure
  • Moneris
  • Chase Paymentech (Orbital)
  • First Data Rapid Connect
  • Cash Net
  • FIS Pay
  • PointAndPay
  • WorldPay (Securenet)
  • Vantiv
  • Heartland
  • TD Beanstream / Bambora
