TABLE OF CONTENTS

March 2023 Update

The updated version of the date picker now includes the end date. You can now enter the exact date range you are interested in viewing (rather than needing to add an extra day to your date range). With this enhancement, you can now enter 4/1 - 4/8 for your date range (instead of 4/1 - 4/9).

Deltas have been added to the following KPIs:

  • Total Transaction Count
  • Gross Parking Revenue
  • Average Gross Parking Revenue
  • Average Duration

A geographic heat map has been added. This map highlights parking session trends and anomalies in zones by displaying the change in transaction volume compared with the previous year.

What can this report do today?

The Parking Ecosystem Insights report makes it easier for you to spot trends and issues, and to compare and contrast performance across your Passport Parking sessions.

What are the benefits of this report?

You’re used to viewing tabular data with metrics spread across multiple reports. This report will improve your data visualizations without any additional configuration. Key visualizations include:

  • Daily, Weekly & Hourly Transaction Counts

  • Daily Gross Parking Revenue

  • Day of Week Transaction Count

  • Top Performing Zones

What comes next?

Passport is working on integrations that will include data from mobile parking applications and hardware vendors (e.g., meters). We will provide updates on this page.

What should I keep in mind when using this report?

  • Only parking sessions that have ended will be displayed on the report.

  • All metrics are based on the Start Date of the parking transaction.

    • If the parking session started on Wednesday, 10/5/2022, at 9:00 AM and ended on Thursday, 10/6/2022, at 1:00 AM, it will be included in the total revenue for 10/5/2022.

  • Metrics are not displayed in real time.

  • Only transactions through midnight of the day prior to the selected End Date are guaranteed to display, while partial results for the End Date may appear.

    • Example: Running the report on 10/10/2022 for the date range of 10/1/2022 through 10/10/2022 will return ALL transactions from 10/1/2022 through 10/9/2022 11:59:59 PM; however, some transactions from 10/10/2022 may also appear.

  • Hours are expressed in the operator’s time zone.

  • If you have sub-operators, you must clear all selected filters before changing operators and re-running the report.

  • Selecting a vendor from the filter will restrict the choices in the channel filter (to only those channels for the selected vendor). The inverse is not true.

  • Some filters are only available by clicking the label on the x-axis (e.g., day of week).

  • You can select dates in between the date labels displayed on the x-axis of the visualizations.

  • Unlike the filters at the top of the report, the report refreshes automatically when filtered via clicking on a visualization (e.g., bar graph, line chart etc.)

How can I drill down on areas of interest?

Filters let you restrict the data to only items of interest (e.g., view only Zone A if you have received many complaints about signage in that zone).

  • Example: By default, the report displays metrics for all zones in your mobility ecosystem. By selecting Zone A from the zone filter and refreshing the report, the metrics and visualization will be updated to reflect only parking sessions for Zone A.

The following filters are available in the report header. Select from these filters, then select Refresh (circular arrow icon) to update the report results.

  • Operator: The owner of the parking inventory.

  • Parking Start Date: The date and time the parking session began.

  • Vendor: The company name for the applications (hardware or software) that create parking sessions.

  • Channel: The name of the mobile application or hardware that created the parking transaction.

    • Note: If the vendor only has one application that creates parking sessions, then the Channel name will be the same as the vendor name.

  • Zone: The name and number of the geographic location where the parking session occurred.

    • Note: The Zone is unique to each parking operator.

What KPIs are included in this report?

Note: You can apply a filter to further refine the report results.

  • Total Transaction Count: The total count of all individual parking sessions.

    • Note: Only parking sessions that have ended will be included in the count.

  • Gross Parking Revenue: The sum of the gross parking revenue for all parking transactions. The total amount of costs to be paid to the operator prior to transaction fees being applied.

    • Note: Only parking sessions that have ended will be included in the metric.

    • Gross Parking Revenue = Parking Revenue + Convenience Fee + Validation Revenue

  • Average Gross Parking Revenue: The average (mean) Gross Parking Revenue for all parking sessions.

  • Average Duration: The average (mean) duration for all parking sessions.

    • Average Duration = Total minutes of all sessions, divided by the total number of sessions.

What visualizations are displayed on the report?

Note: You can apply a filter to further refine the report results.

  • Total Transaction Count by Channel: Displays each channel as a percentage of the total number of parking sessions.

    • This item highlights which channels account for the majority of parking sessions.

  • Gross Parking Revenue by Channel: Displays each channel as a percentage of the Gross Parking Revenue.

    • This item highlights which channels account for the majority of gross parking revenue.

  • Top 20 Zones by Total Transaction Count: Displays the twenty (or fewer) zones with the highest volume of parking sessions.

  • Top Zones by Gross Parking Revenue: Displays the twenty (or fewer) zones with the highest gross parking revenue.

  • Total Transaction Count (Daily): Displays the daily number of parking transactions as a single point on a line graph for every date specified in the date range filter.

    • The count is calculated based on the start date of the individual parking transactions.

    • Example: If the parking session started on Wednesday, 10/5/2022, at 9:00 AM and ended on Thursday, 10/6/2022, at 1:00 AM, the session would be included in the total count for 10/5/2022.

    • To filter directly from the visualization, hover over the desired date on the x-axis label, then select when the mouse pointer turns to a pointing finger icon. Remove the filter by selecting the “x“ in the Parking Start Date filter that now appears in the filter section.

  • Total Transaction Count (Weekly): Displays the total number of parking transactions as a single data point on a line graph for every week specified in the date range.

    • The total count is calculated based on the start date of the individual parking transactions. For example, if 5 parking sessions started on 10/5/2022 and 10 sessions started on 10/6/2022, even if the parking transactions spanned multiple weeks, they would be included in the weekly total for 10/3/2022 (i.e., 15 transactions).

    • Example: Suppose you want to see data for October 2022 and you specify a date range from 10/1/22 through 10/31/22. Our system defines a week as the period from Monday through Sunday. If the specified start date of the selected range is not a Monday, the data would need to include the week that includes the specified start date. Since 10/1/22 falls on a Saturday, the week that begins 9/26/2022 includes the 10/1/22 date. However, transactions from 9/26/2022 through 9/30/2022 would not be included in the count since they are outside the range of the report.

  • Total Transaction Count (Hour of Day): Displays 24 data points, one for each hour of the day.

    • Hours are expressed as single- or double-digit numbers ranging from 0 (12:00 AM) through 23 (11:00 PM).

    • Transactions are calculated based on the start time of the parking session.

    • Example: A parking session that started at 6:00 AM and ended at 5:30 PM would be included in the bar graph for the bar representing 6:00 AM (6).

    • Hover over the desired hour to view the total number of transactions that occurred within the time period.

  • Total Transaction Count (Day of Week): Displays seven data points, one for each day of the week.

    • Transactions are calculated based on the start date of the parking session.

    • Example: A parking session that started on Wednesday, 10/5/2022, and ended on Thursday, 10/6/2022, would be included in the bar graph for Wednesday.

    • Hover over the desired day to view the total number of transactions that occurred within the time period.

  • Gross Parking Revenue (Daily): Displays the daily gross parking revenue as a single point on a line graph for every date specified in the date range filter.

    • Revenue is calculated based on the start date of the individual parking transactions.

    • Example: If the parking session started on Wednesday, 10/5/2022, at 9:00 AM and ended on Thursday, 10/6/2022, at 1:00 AM, it would be included in the total revenue for 10/5/2022.

    • To filter directly from the visualization, hover over the desired date on the x-axis label then select when the mouse pointer turns to a pointing finger icon. Remove the filter by selecting the “x“ in the Parking Start Date filter that now appears in the filter section.

  • Gross Parking Revenue (Weekly): Displays the weekly gross parking revenue as a single data point on a line graph for every week included in the date range.

    • Our system defines a week as the period from Monday through Sunday. If the specified start date of the selected range is not a Monday, the data would need to include the week that includes the specified start date.

    • Example: Suppose you want to see data for October 2022 and you specify a date range from 10/1/22 through 10/31/22. Since 10/1/22 falls on a Saturday, the week that begins 9/26/2022 includes the date range.

    • Revenue is calculated based on the start date of the individual parking transactions.

    • Example: If 5 parking sessions started on 10/5/2022 and 10 sessions started on 10/6/2022, the transactions would be included in the weekly total for the week that begins Monday, 10/3/2022 even if the transactions span multiple days.

  • Gross Parking Revenue (Hour of Day): Displays 24 data points, one for each hour of the day.

    • Hours are expressed as single- or double-digit numbers ranging from 0 (12:00 AM) through 23 (11:00 PM).

    • Transactions are calculated based on the start time of the parking session.

    • Example: If the parking session started at 6:00 AM and ended at 5:30 PM, the session would be included on the bar graph for the bar representing 6:00 AM (6).

    • To filter by the hour of the day, e.g., 9:00 AM (9), hover over the desired Parking Start Hour of Day label on the x-axis, then select when the mouse pointer turns to a pointing finger icon. Remove the filter by selecting the “x” in the Parking Start Hour of Day filter that now appears in the filter section.

  • Gross Parking Revenue (Day of Week): Displays 7 data points, one for each day of the week.

    • Gross Revenue is calculated based on the start date of the parking transaction.

    • Example: If the parking session started on Wednesday, 10/5/2022, and ended on Thursday, 10/6/2022, the session would be included in the part of the bar graph for Wednesday.

    • To filter on the day of the week (e.g., Friday), hover over the desired Day of the Week label on the x-axis, then select when the mouse pointer turns to a pointing finger icon. Remove the filter by selecting the “x” in the Parking Start Day of Week filter that now appears in the filter section.
